Introducing Pär Scott

Pär Scott grew up in Vermont and currently lives in Arlington, MA. He practices massage therapy and acupuncture and uses Chinese Herbs as needed. 35 years ago Pär started apprenticing with a massage therapist and then got his license in 1992. He graduated from acupuncture school in 2002 and has been with Om Namo ever since!

When asked about how he became interested in massage therapy, Pär shared,

“I was interested in getting more formal training in massage back when I was in college. I was a theater person during my first year in college and was thinking about the link between body mechanics and the emotional mechanism. I thought it was interesting to think about it as creating an emotional response as far as acting and how it relates to the body.”

How about a few random facts?

“I used to take voice lessons & I enjoy tinkering with watches and other mechanical objects as a hobby.”

What are you interested in?

“I’m interested in learning more about the potential of using acupuncture to help with rehabilitative exercise and training in a less passive way.”

What brings you the most joy/satisfaction in your work?

“I really enjoy helping people get through difficult stuff; if somebody is in a lot of pain it’s nice to get them out of pain and to a better place.”

What advice can you offer?

“The advice I wish people would take is to be more open with their feelings and sensations; more interactive with their own body. There’s a tendency for people to not connect with their own body and that generates a distortion of their physicality, leading to a distortion of how they project themselves into the world.”
