Sally McAlpin grew up on a farm in northern New Jersey. She lives in Belmont with her husband and has three adult children and two grandchildren.
Sally has been teaching yoga since 1989! Sally is a certified Kripalu Instructor, and she trained extensively in Iyengar yoga in Boston and Edinburgh, Scotland. Sally is certified by meditation and healing pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn to teach mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques and by the Herbert Benson Mind/Body Center at Boston’s Deaconess Hospital to teach meditation in schools.
Besides being very well educated in her field of work, Sally is also curious about learning more about the brain body connection. She is fascinated by anything neurological.
She joined Om Namo at the very beginning and teaches three classes of Awareness. When asked what her specialty is, she replied with one word;
Mindfulness”
If you ask Sally what brings her the most joy and satisfaction with her work, here’s what she will say;
People leaving after class feeling relaxed and happy”
One piece of advice she often shares with her students is;
Listen to your body in a compassionate way.”
Sally has been an integral part of the Om Namo team for many years, and we are so fortunate to have her!
