Jane Henderson grew up in Chappaqua, NY and currently lives in Belmont. She and her husband Bart have four kids; Olivia 27, Lily 25, Owen 23, and Clementine 19. They have two pups named Hazel and Cookie.
Jane shared how she got into teaching.
I began training to teach in 2006. It came about organically. I had been practicing for many years. My youngest was three and I knew I wanted to do something that had some meaning to me. I started training without a clear notion of where it would take me.”
She started teaching at Om Namo in 2016, but had met Santosh soon after he began working at Oriental Medicine. Jane’s feeling about working with Santosh;
Santosh has been a longtime influence on my path and was thrilled when the opportunity arose to teach here.”
An interesting fact about you?
I’m the mom to 4 amazing kids!”
What are you interested in learning?
I’m always interested in learning! I’m currently in a 300 hour Trauma Sensitive Yoga training with TCTSY as well as a deep dive anatomy training with Jason Crandell. I’m also continually learning from the world around me: my students, kids, dogs, the amazing teachers at Om and all of the amazing teachers I have had the opportunity to work with.”
She shared that the greatest joy and satisfaction from teaching is knowing that she is being of service. When asked what advice she would share, Jane replied,
I hope that how I teach in the yoga room is a reflection of what I believe and how we should show up in the world. If I had to give a piece of advice it might be… let it be enough, we can’t be perfect and show up as you are being the best you can be in the moment.”
